Wildwood was a really fun movie. I've seen most of the LAIKA movies and have been seeing trailers for Wildwood on most movies over the last few months, but I wasn't sure how much I'd like it.

The premise is that a girl in Portland is watching her baby brother when a murder of crows literally pick him up and carry him off into the aptly named Impenetrable Woods. She then sets off to rescue him.

There are definitely a few places where they lean on well-worn tropes, but overall this was a very unique movie with some massive battles on a Lord of the Rings scale.

The voice acting was great, with standout performances from Charlie Day, Tom Waits, and the lovely Awkwafina.

I'd recommend seeing it in the theater because it's a beautiful movie and really makes the most of its scale.
